Talaris’s Legislative Assembly is the “Assembly of 40” — 30 seats elected by citizen districts, 10 reserved for “Strategic Industry Appointees.” Three factions contend:
- The Compact Bloc (Old Guard) — “legacy families, descendants of Marcos-era oligarchs, former logistics cartel bosses, and US defense-aligned politicians.” “Terrified of Vulpine’s monopoly but … addicted to the economic boom”; they “frequently try to pass laws to nationalize portions of Vulpine’s grid, but always fail.”
- The Resonance Coalition (Technocrats) — “young professionals, UT academics, tech-libertarians, and Vulpine proxy-voters.” They “believe traditional government is obsolete” and “actively vote to deregulate all advanced materials research (including the ongoing, quiet processing of Foxite).”
- The Mainland & Labor Front (The Locked-In) — “the only major opposition party”: “naturalized citizens of working-class Philippine descent, advocates for non-citizen migrant workers, and Old Town district representatives.” They argue The Optional Work Week “is a dystopia for the ‘Locked-In’” and want a steep corporate tax on Vulpine.
