PWRCORE-1 is Talaris’s central cold-fusion reactor, built and run by Vulpine Dynamics. Its activation in 2024 is the landmark event that let Talaris become “the first city on Earth effectively running on cold fusion.”
The reactor powers the entire city grid. The Barko coastal ferries that work the harbor, for instance, are “entirely electric, relying on massive battery banks charged directly from the city’s central PWRCORE-1 reactor via rapid-charging tethers at the docks.” PWRCORE-1 is also what underpins the post-scarcity economy behind The Optional Work Week.
