Vulpine Dynamics is the company IO Fox left academia to found, built to commercialize his cold-fusion breakthrough. It makes the VDMH-1 reactors, the VARYON Dumbbells, and the PWRBND, and it runs the internal study Project Resonance.

It now “operates as a de facto ‘Fourth Branch of government,’” a corporate technocracy in all but name. It funds the Founders’ Dividend, a corporate-funded UBI (see The Optional Work Week), along with the Level-5 Autonomous Grid across Talaris.

On Varyon Syndrome, the company’s public position is that no causal link to Varyon technology has been demonstrated, and it has kept its products on sale. Its critics treat that position as self-serving for reasons set out under Varyon Syndrome.

What the company does and what it says have come apart in public view. Since IO Fox returned from the Philippines on September 2, Vulpine has opened a second study, stood up a research site outside the city, and instructed staff not to sleep or live near the lab or the event venues, all while keeping its products on the shelves. Critics ask why a company that will not let its own staff sleep near the venues is content to let its customers do so, and that question has become the sharpest thing said about Vulpine since the Shadow Event.

Its stock fell sharply after the Shadow Event in August and has not recovered, and IO’s video of August 30 moved it very little in either direction. Because the Founders’ Dividend and the city grid both run on Vulpine revenue, a sustained fall in the share price is a civic problem in Talaris rather than only a corporate one, which is an argument the company has begun making in public.
